My Views on Valentine's Day 2010
Ok, so today is Valentine's Day, also known as National Singles Discrimination Day (LOL), a time for many people who have been screwing up all year long to provide monetary gifts to their significant other in hopes of redemption. Many people who are single will wait until the last minute to try and find that special someone to spend this day with in order to avoid being alone. Well, I disagree with this method. Valentine's Day is meant for people that love one another to show love and extended appreciation for each other. If you are single, do not fret! Enjoy being in your own skin and treat yourself! It is true that everyone needs to be loved, but start by loving yourself! For the couples: if you are only shown love 1 day out of the year, you may need to re-evaluate your relationship. On another note I feel that Valentine's Day is not special unless you are with someone special. It is meaningless to spend time with a person you clearly are "Just Not That Into" just so you can say you were not at home alone while everyone else is out celebrating "love". People have forgotten the true meaning of Valentine's Day. It does not have to be a day just for lovers. It is to show love to your loved ones, including family and friends. It should be a day of celebration for life, and the fact that love still exists. Although this year was spent with a great friend, I would like to acknowledge my One true Valentine. God has given the greatest gift that anyone can give. That is his Son Jesus. Thank you God! That is love!
